Find your summer glow at at ReEnhance in Hale
My husband walked into the bathroom as I was getting ready to go out one evening last month, looked at me with great suspicion and said: “What have you been up to? You look all… glowy.” Score one for HydraFacial at ReEnhance in Hale; if my husband of 20 years spots a new glow to my skin, it’s clearly highly effective.
HydraFacial is a wholly clinical facial treatment, a three-step process with every element focussed on one single goal: glowing skin. They recommend three treatments to deliver the optimum results, but even one has an immediate, noticeable effect on your skin, as evidenced by my husband’s comment.
The treatments utilises a unique bit of kit; a hand-piece that uses ‘vortex technology’ to deep cleanse the skin and then deliver very specific botanical ingredients to the bit where they will be of most benefit. In action, it’s a whirly, sucky, slightly abrasive pen-sized thing that your therapist, Tracy in my case, uses all over the face and neck in a series of individual processes.
Before starting, she cleanses the skin to remove any topical impurities such as make-up. Next, the hand-piece is moved firmly around and across the skin’s surface in a deep cleanse and exfoliation, sweeping away dead skin cells and make-up that has settled into the skin’s uppermost layer. At the same time, the vortex action pushes a cleansing tonic into the skin, assisting the exfoliation for a deep cleanse. This is a bit scratchy, but not uncomfortable.
This is then followed by the application of a light acid peel, a glycolic and salicylic solution, is painted onto the skin – again with the vortex wotsit.
The first treatment is the lightest of the solutions, which build in strength as you progress through your course of three. It’s tingly, but not terribly unpleasant, even at the highest level. This is left on for four minutes, before being washed away and step three commences. For some, this is the best bit. For others, it’s a bit icky…as your therapist applies the hand-piece to extract any blackheads and the contents of blocked pores. I don’t really suffer from either (she says, smugly) so I genuinely wasn’t expecting the colour of the contents of the cup where the resulting liquid is deposited. Trust me, you may not like it, but it feels great to know it’s out!
If you choose the extended Rejuvenation treatment, you will then enjoy the application of a serum (containing nutrients such as hyaluronic acid, horse chestnut seed extract, red algae extract, copper, zinc and magnesium peptides, plus powerful antioxidants to protect against pollutants and sun-damage) and a super-hydrating infusion to finish.
Once my skin was ultra-clean and hydrated, Tracy popped me under the simply brilliant Dermalux light machine, for 20 minutes of dream time while the award-winning light therapy device soothes the skin while boosting collagen production. Joy all round.
A quick application of a Factor 50 moisturiser and I am good to go. My skin is fresh and glowing – no need for a foundation or even a CC cream for weeks afterwards.
The second and third treatments follow the same routine, but with an increase in the strength of the glycolic peel. That bit gets a little more tingly each time, but it’s a small price to pay for the most glowing and even skin I have enjoyed in years - not to mention the dozens of spontaneous compliments!
