WHAT ARE YOU READING AT THE MOMENT?
The Mitford Girls - Mary S Lovell, which was recommended by Helen in my office. It's one of those books you pick up and read for a bit, then have to read something else but it is really informative. I didn't really know anything about the Mitford girls before I started it and I am fascinated by their connections with Hitler and Churchill and all the major figures of their time. When I was at school, I didn't do the history of kings and queens and so on, I did social and economic history, so it was a book by Alison Weir that really got my interest going and I really love reading about history now, something I didn't do when I was younger.
WHAT BOOK ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO STARTING?
My partner bought me a Kindle for Christmas. I love it. I recently read The Snowman by Jo Nesbo. I'd never normally read a book like that but I was absolutely gripped. I am looking forward to reading the biography of Gok Wan, as he's in my business and had weight issues when he was younger, which I did. Having the Kindle means I can try books I never thought I'd read. I am also looking forward to reading a biography about Edith Head - it's a massive book all about the stars she dressed in Hollywood and it beautifully illustrated so I can't wait to read it.
WHAT WAS THE FIRST BOOK THAT GOT YOU HOOKED ON READING?
Brighton Rock - Graham Greene, though I haven't read anything else by him. I read it during A Levels at school. Pete my partner is a real book fiend and he says I should read some more. I didn't really read a lot until my late teens. It was then I began to read regularly and even more so in the last 10 years. Now I can't go to bed without a book - and it has to be a book. Magazines just won't do.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE BEACH READ?
Victoria Hislop - The Island. I feel her books are undervalued. This is about a leper colony off Crete and I actually went there last year.
WHO's YOUR FAVOURITE ALL TIME AUTHOR OR BOOK?
The Time Travellers Wife - Audrey Niffeneger. I really loved it. I absolutely love the Twilight books by Stephanie Meyer too. I know teenagers read them but I could not put them down. It's an absolute love story.
IS THERE A BOOK THAT CHaNGED YOU R LIFE?
Not really, but this struck a core as I can really relate to the business.
Bespoke - Savile Row Ripped and smoothed, by Richard Anderson. It's above my desk where I work next to a picture of my parents. The parallels to my business are all there.
THE BOOK YOU LEAST LIKE.
The Da Vinci Code. I couldn't get into it.
