Andrea Smith, the creative force behind Andrea Jane Smith Photograhy, has a considerable fan base among the parents of Cheshire, due to her extraordinary photos of newborns and children. Here she tells us a little more about her business and why it works.
What we do
I specialise in photographing newborn babies, children and families, creating unique pieces of art for our clients to cherish for many years.
How I got started in photography
I have had a passion for photography for as long as I can remember. I achieved a diploma in Commercial photography, then went on to do an Honours Degree in Photography at Liverpool John Moores University. After working in various sectors of the industry, including documentary and editorial, I started photographing children and babies and enjoyed it so much I have never looked back! Working with little ones is sometimes challenging but so rewarding and so much fun.
There have been a few memorable moments that stand out during my career!
I once had to repeatedly spray Rebecca Adlington (Olympic Gold Medallist) in the face with a water soaked mop during a photography shoot for Speedo. She was great fun and took it all in good humour.
Most of my clients are local to Cheshire and they want to capture their baby’s first years in timeless style. My clients tend to be quite style and design conscious. They want a piece of personal art that enhances their home. For this reason my service is very bespoke. From detailed style consultations to the fine art printing and framing requirements I myself handle every element, from the moment the image is created to when the piece is finally presented.
What makes Andrea Jane Smith Photography special?
Along with my years of experience I’d say it’s my relaxed and friendly approach. Style wise, I offer something different and memorable. You will not see stark white backdrops used in my photography that date an image. I aim to be artistic and stylish and want my pieces to be a timeless treasure. I am thrilled that my work will be featured in British Vogue this month and I’m very proud of everything I’ve achieved.
My business ethos
I strive for quality, trust and the right costing to fit all budgets. I strongly believe in transparency of pricing on all frames, prints and canvasses so there is no hard selling or nasty surprises. I want to give my clients an experience and service that they want to repeat.
When I’m not working
I am a keen runner and a road cyclist. Cheshire is just so scenic and beautiful, I feel blessed every time I go out exercising. Also I love good food and enjoy cooking for friends, so the exercise is necessary!
