You might think you know Manchester like the back of your hand, but this city of captivating culture and infinite wonders is sure to still have some surprises left up its sleeve.

Wander a little more off the beaten track and you will stumble across the up and coming neighbourhood of The Northern Quarter. Home to bustling restaurants, bohemian bars and lively music venues, the Quarter comes to life amidst the vibrant street art. Inside the district there are plenty of unique bars hidden away down secret streets that are just waiting to be discovered. If contemporary art is your forte then visiting the selection of artists' studios at Manchester Craft and Design Centre and the exhibitions at the Centre for Chinese Contemporary Art will be a dream come true. On the other hand if your passion is for street food then you must check out Hatch, Manchester's award winning food, drink and retail destination, with over 30 independent traders offering up many and varied goodies.

When in Manchester it would be a crime not to indulge yourself and venture out to some of the city's newest editions to its world-famous bar scene. Three notable new arrivals include the exclusive gentlemen's club, Whiskey Down, featuring joyful burlesque dancing and even the occasional snake. Totally at the other end of the scale, the luxurious Library Curated by Assouline, at The Radisson Blu Edwardian, is filled with lavish books and offers marvellous cocktail menus to bring the whole experience to life. Finally, Zymurgorium Gin, Manchester's very first gin distillery, is opening their own bar in the Old Granada Studios complex this September. Aaron Darke, co-founder of Zymurgorium says: 'It will be a celebration of all the best bars in Manchester. We will be inviting the top mixologists to come in and join in on projects with us; it will be open and inclusive but also exciting and original.'

On the topic of indulging oneself, there is really no better way to indulge oneself than by visiting one of Manchester's most prestigious spas. Winner of the Best Luxury Urban Escape in Northern Europe, a trip to the The Spa at the Midland could be the perfect present to spoil your other half with. Similarly, visiting the newly refurbished spa at the Radisson Blu Edwardian is sure win you some affection.

Keep things classy with the array of options for afternoon tea in the city. Sunset at Australasia bar is cited as one of the most instagrammable places in Manchester and in a city full of gorgeous aesthetics that's quite a feat. But if you're one to opt for more traditional havens then don't panic, because restaurants like Cloud 23 and The Ivy excel at providing that authentic English afternoon tea experience.

In the evening, when you're searching for a memorable dining experience, you will not be hard done by when it comes to choice. The joys of such a diverse and vibrant city are the endless opportunities on your doorstep to widen your horizons and try something new and exciting. No matter what your tastes, Manchester has your back! From exploring Mexican/Japanese cuisine at 2019's Best Luxury Restaurant, Peter Street Kitchen, to fine dining at Aiden Bryne's Restaurant MCR, to private dining on the Skylight Terrace of The Ivy - you will struggle to choose your preference. If meat is your weakness then you must visit Hawksmoor or Gaucho for some of the finest steaks in the city. And of course if you're after a more casual dining experience, then visit Chinatown for some unbelievable dishes bursting with flavour.

When doing the rounds in the city's hugely popular shopping districts be sure to mix it up and check out Alffecks Palace, the quirky emporium full of all sorts of gems and intriguing pieces that you won't find anywhere else. Of course, don't forget whilst in the search for your next next envy-inducing ensemble, Manchester is also home to the latest high end fashion at Harvey Nichols and Selfridges luxury department stores.

After a long day of exploring the city's hidden treasures you'll need to retreat to the perfect tranquil space to get a quality night's sleep.
