Renowned ceramics company, Moorcroft is celebrating its centenary this year and recently marked this milestone with a very special walk.

Workers from the Moorcroft factory in Stoke-on-Trent dressed in historic costume to lead a procession of VIP guests re-tracing the steps of William Moorcroft, who set up his famous factory 100 years ago .

In a touching speech, Moorcroft chairman Hugh Edwards described how the company had been transformed over recent years thanks to support from collectors and his team of dedicated staff.

Guests at the event, including antiques expert Eric Knowles were told how on a July day in 1913 William Moorcroft would have stepped off the train at Cobridge station, and walked down Nile Street to collect his work colleagues from James Macintyre & Co. He would then have lead them through the smog-laden morning air up to his new, state-of-the-art factory in Sandbach Road, a building which still houses Moorcroft Pottery to this day.
