Happy New Year!

I hope you had a fabulous Christmas! Martin and I had such busy time, but it’s been wonderful spending so much time just enjoying ourselves. We used the time off work to spend with friends and family and really packed it in. We went to an Escape Rooms in Manchester, which was great fun. It really brought out the competitive spirit in us! We also went to the karaoke huts at the Manchester Christmas Markets; that was brilliant, especially once our vocal chords were suitably lubricated with plenty of mulled wine! Because we pack so much in over the festive break, we keep our New Year’s Eve low key, just going with the flow and spending time with our favourite people - it’s more important to me to spend time with them rather than a room full of strangers!

I resolve…

As 2019 is the year we’re getting married, I’m determined to be the healthiest I’ve ever been both inside and out. I’m definitely getting my fitness back on track and will be looking to get a personal trainer; I really need someone to motivate me, especially while it’s so dark and cold. I’m also going to knuckle down with my skincare regime; I’d like to avoid a breakout on my wedding day! Because of my Persian heritage, I’ve been very lucky with my skin and inherited good genes in that department but I definitely need to get into the cleanse, tone and moisturise routine. I’ve been getting some advice from the ladies on the skin care counters at Selfridges and Space NK who have been so helpful, I’ll let you know what works for me.

This is the year!

Martin and I are getting married this year and the wedding planning is now in full swing! We’ve got a few things lined up that we need to tick off, such as food tasting (can’t wait for that one!), music and organising the table plan. I’m having eight bridesmaids so my bride tribe and I will be getting our bridesmaid dress shopping spree organised very soon. I can’t wait to see all my girls together and treat them to some pampering. I’m sure there’ll be a glass or two of champagne involved too!

Raising awareness and funds

I attended a few fundraising events last month, including the Christmas Starry Lunch, which was held at the Midland Hotel in Manchester. It was a great do with money and awareness raised for the Once Upon A Smile charity, which offers support for children and families suffering with bereavement. We also went to the annual Irish Abroad charity ball for their 25th anniversary event at the Hilton in Manchester, which was, of course, great craic. The Irish sure know how to party! There was also plenty of money made for some excellent local charities.
