What we do

This one stop shop has just about everything you could ever need for your home from a full interior design service to a modern art gallery.

Who we do it for

We have a very loyal customer base and come highly recommended by all who use the showroom. Anyone who needs help and advice will find our service invaluable.

What makes us special?

Our approach is not sales driven but we help clients get exactly what they need; whether it is blinds, curtains, furniture, lighting or designing bespoke items such as the contemporary glass bed we recently created for a client’s pet! We have huge sculptures for the garden and commission artwork to fit in unusual spaces. Anything is possible. All you need to do is ask.

How we got started

I lived in Disley when we first moved here from Loch Lomond, Scotland. After the school run, I would take trips out to the surrounding areas. One sunny day I was sat having my coffee outside Sinclair’s (now Piccolino’s) in Hale and there it was, .. an empty shop! It used to be Burt’s men’s wear, now Tesco’s.

I first started out with the art gallery then expanded by adding a lighting department and photography floor. I was forced to move out by developers and had four weeks notice to pack up and leave. By this time I had moved house and on my way home I saw an empty shop in Gillbent Road, Cheadle Hulme. Overnight, I opened up another art gallery called Toucan Art.

I still wanted to find another showroom in Hale and after a couple of months, opened Gallery 22 in Victoria Road. For five years I just sold paintings but In 2007 I added the interior design section to the showroom. It was at this time my interior designer, Lana, came on board and together we have developed this side of business- now known as Art of Interiors. Over the last four years we have won The Northern Interior Design Awards and been finalists every year in various categories.

My right hand woman is...

Lana, who I knew a few years before she joined Art of Interiors. I used to sell her artwork in the galleries while she was working as an interior designer in Macclesfield. She has over 15 year of experience in this field and being an artist gives an added advantage. Lana taught interior design at Stockport College for five years, so our clients feel safe in her hands - they are filled with confidence.

Secret of our success.

Being honest, looking after our clients and giving a great service is all part of us being a successful business. Everyone works hard and there is enough stress in everyday life, so we make shopping with us exciting and a joy. The end results often bring tears of happiness to our customers. I know this sounds corny
but it’s true.

When I’m not working

I love to go to my house in Scotland, eat at the Loch Fyne Oyster Bar in Loch Fyne, have friends round for dinner, do gardening, painting, and read a good book too.

My next move

This will be an ambitious one. I would like to invest in a luxury mobile showroom. There must be so many people who can’t get to my shop and it would be great to visit them with our products instead. Until that day, we do offer a home visit service, so if you need us pick up the phone and call 0161 929 4040. We will be very pleased to help you!
