Party on down in Alderley Edge

If you’re looking for a fun party option for kids that involves no work at all, read on!

The Alchemist in Alderley Edge has launched the Wizard’s Apprentice Master Class, offering a mocktail mixing session to groups of four to eight children over seven years old the chance to have some mixing and shaking fun, followed by a meal. I took my 11 year old son and his friend along on a Sunday afternoon in May to check it out, and they loved it. Their smiles were wide and when the dry ice started to flow their eyes were wider.

We were looked after by Josh, who demonstrated great humour and patience when faced with two giddy boys with a knack for chaos. He took them through each stage of making up two mocktails, a pink and frothy Bubbligum and a tall, Battenberg yellow Mango Shake. The Bubbligum involved foaming froth and cascades of dry ice, which was very thrilling, while the Mango Shake required some serious, extended cocktail shaker action. To cap the session off, they both chose burgers and fries and sat at the bar looking like old soaks. Oh, the shape of things to come…We’ll be back. At £20 per head it’s marvellous value and the perfect birthday/end-of-SATs/school’s out treat.
