The Townhouse in Chester launches the Chester Mule cocktail

You might have enjoyed a Bellini at Harry’s bar in Venice, or supped a Singapore Sling at Raffles, but now you can enjoy a signature cocktail far closer to home, as Townhouse on Watergate Street launches the ‘Chester Mule’
Townhouse’s ‘Chester Mule’ is a local take on the famous ‘Moscow Mule’ which found fame in the US during the 1950s and comprises vodka, ginger beer and lime.
To ensure a locally-sourced taste, the ‘Chester Mule’ sees vodka replaced with Hunters Cheshire Gin infused with fresh ginger root, before being aged in a wooden barrel for several weeks. Once sufficiently blended, the cocktail is served to enjoy over crushed ice and garnished with fresh mint and ginger, amidst Townhouse’s New York-inspired stylings.
Chris Rodgers, owner of Townhouse, comments: “Chester is well-known for its Roman history, racecourse, fantastic independent shops, restaurants and bars, and quite rightly draws lots of tourists from across the UK and beyond. We wanted to develop a cocktail which over time will become instantly identifiable with Chester, and of course, we hope both locals and tourist alike will pay a visit to Townhouse to give the ‘Chester Mule’ a try.
To celebrate the launch of Chester’s signature cocktail, Townhouse is hosting a night of drinking, nibbles and music, in partnership with The Chester Food, Drink & Lifestyle Festival, from 7pm on Sunday 20th April - all festival ticket holders will be entitled to a free ‘Chester Mule’.
