Five Iconic Moments of Manchester History
The Stratospheric cocktail is a drink that is as iconic as the Hilton Manchester Deansgate’s wonderful home – the Beetham Tower. Possibly the tallest cocktail in Britain and a marvellous head-turner. It mixes CirocRed Berry & Tanqueray 10, Hibiscus, Raspberry, Passion Fruit, Citrus and Champagne.
The Cornetto di Cloud has been developed at the Hilton’s high-rise Cloud 23 bar. It’sa tribute to Antonio Valvona, the man who created the ice cream cone, just down the road in Ancoats. Based on an indulgent ice cream cocktail, it contains Belvedere Black Raspberry, Cassis, Raspberry, Vanilla cream finished with 100’s & 1000’s.
The Mission to Manchester remembers when Manchester’s Albert Square was the scene of much ado and fanfare in August 1872 as the Lord Mayor welcomed the Iwakura Mission from Japan. Travelling around the world for ideas and inspiration, Manchester was a particular highlight due to the city’s wealth of industrial heritage. It features Hendricks Gin, Sake, Genmaicha Tea Syrup, Yuzu and Rose Water.
The 7’s Club nods to the significance of the No7 jersey worn by Manchester United heroes. Now the Hilton’s own No.7 will live up to the great names that have taken the shirt over the years in this famous footballing city. It features Haig Club, Dubbonet, Rosemary & Demerara syrup, Walnut and a football pitch!
The 1970s classic Harvey Wallbanger may have been long overdue a revamp, but its history also has a Manchester angle. Developed in 1952 on LA’s iconic Sunset Boulevard it was made famous in the UK in the 70’s largely as a result of its popularity among Ancoats’ large Italian community. The modern version mixes Ketel One Vodka and Galliano Sweet Herbal liqueur, served on an Orange flavoured block of ice.
The autumn winter cocktails are available every day at Cloud 23.
