Sarah Jayne Hall goes for a spot of afternoon tea in Salford Quays
From Saturday 7th September 2013 you will be able to enjoy and indulge in afternoon tea at Damson MediaCityUK.
The restaurant is already creating a buzz on the piazza and the introduction of afternoon tea is the perfect addition to an already delicious a la carte menu. I was lucky enough to get a sneak preview.
The restaurant itself is sleek and modern. Boasting views of MediaCityUK and Salford Quays from its floor to ceiling windows it is a classy setting. Surrounded by BBC, ITV and Dock 10 studios there is a feeling of glamour and excitement in the atmosphere.
The afternoon tea menu features tasty sandwiches including, local roast beef with horseradish and watercress, salmon, crayfish and rocket accompanied with a beautiful homemade lemon mayonnaise and many more sandwich fillings and flavours to please your palate. Sometimes when you have afternoon tea the sandwiches can be a bit of a letdown, but I have to say Damson hit the nail on the head with theirs.
There are sweet treats too, my favourite has to be ‘Katy’s carrot cake’ – made and created by the lead pastry chef, the butter cream is luscious and light and the overall taste is incredible. Another winner is ‘Simon’s lemon posset with crushed raspberries’ – it was melt in the mouth and refreshing.
If sandwiches and cakes weren’t enough you also get a selection of fruit tartlets and pastries. Everything is beautifully presented on a cake stand and there is a vast selection of teas to choose from.
It is clear that all the ingredients used here are local, fresh and nothing but the best. You can’t fault the flavours and attention to detail that is so apparent here at Damson. Everything has been thought about properly and flavours carefully considered creating a bespoke afternoon tea menu.
Prices start at a very reasonable £14.95 per person and you can even add on a cheeky glass of prosecco for that extra special indulgence. It’s ideal for celebrating a birthday, a meet up with the girls or even a romantic date with a loved one. It’s also worth noting that you do need to book in advance, so make sure you plan ahead and give Damson a quick call beforehand.
