Sedbergh Junior School has relocated from Sedbergh to a new site at Casterton, just ten minutes drive away. It is known as Casterton, Sedbergh Preparatory School and is situated in a spectacular rural location in the Lune Valley. There is no rush to grow up here but the foundations are laid for nurturing the resilience our childrenwill need as young adults, and the tenacity essential to achieving high standards.
This is evident in the unrivalled activities programme and around the clock pastoral care. Allied to all that happens in the classroom, it is perhaps the breadth of opportunity and depth of involvement that sets us apart. From pony care to caving, ballet to ghyll scrambling, mountain biking (on mountains!) to kayaking, we incubate a sense of success and achievement in each and every one of our children. We awaken in them, at anearly age, the joy of a challenge met.
The move to Casterton introduces outstanding Science laboratories, with teachers who are no strangers to explosions and dissections. Facilities at the new school are first class and include floodlit Astro-turf and tennis courts, a theatre, heated indoor swimming pool and stables.
Balancing the academic with outdoor learning, we are creating a school farm - pupils already consult with Chef to grow vegetables and herbs and this involvement is set to increase. Day, flexi- or full boarding is possible and parents may visit the school at any time by arrangement or on formal open days each term. Michaelmas Term open days are on 1st and 2nd November.
