My 5 favourite things about Knutsford

King Street

Archant

I’ve lived in Knutsford for nearly 20 years now and love everything this glorious little county town has to offer. Here are a few of my favourite things…

Favourite place to…dine

Oh, where do I start? Knutsford is packed with eateries of every description, so the hardest part of any night out planning is just which one to choose. I love Thai food, so Mae Gaew on King Street is a regular choice. With friends the Indian restaurant Eastern Revive is great for both atmosphere and food and we do love a family brunch at Piccolino!

Favourite place to…pamper

When it’s ‘all about me’, it has to be The Knutsford Medi & Beauty Spa on Malt Street. A little bit of bliss goes a long way, I find.

Favourite place to…relax

It has to be Tatton Park, doesn’t it? This completely stunning parkland offers wonderful walks and plenty to do for the children. When we’re feeling very energetic we’ll cycle there and have tea in the café.

Favourite…place to shop

We’re quite blessed in Knutsford to have many, many independent retailers, offering a great choice and personal service. I love a fuddle round Knutsford Antiques and have found some unusual gifts there for friends who like things quirky. I also pop into Glamorous quite regularly and rarely leave empty handed. Vermillion, an art gallery on Princess Street, is a favourite of mine too, and when I win the lottery…

Favourite…community event

Knutsford Royal May Day has been going 152 years this year and is an extraordinary coming together of the whole community. Hundreds of people, most of them children (including my own) parade through the town. We have Morris dancers, Samba dancers, horse drawn carts, a Jack o’ the Green, brass bands, pipers and, of course a glowing, happy May Queen and her glowing, happy attendants. It’s a glorious occasion, even in the pouring rain as in 2015!
