The newly created upstairs terrace at Australasia has a unique afternoon tea offering.

Afternoon Tea has become a de rigueur offering for any restaurant with on trend style, but how do you stand out from what is becoming an increasingly crowded market? Well, that’s not too hard if you are Australasia, renowned for fabulous, delicate foods inspired by the counties of the Pacific Rim. This subterranean restaurant has an upstairs terrace, Sunset, newly refurbished in romantic beach bar style, and it is here that you can enjoy a very un-British Afternoon Tea – and you really should.

Choose a frozen Pornstar Martini or a glass of chilled rosé and await the arrival of your very own Bento box of delights. From Duck California Roll to pickled vegetables, beef broth and fabulous savoury rice, it’s a mini voyage of discover – and not a cucumber sandwich in sight.

Things get a little more traditional when the pudding tower comes out, but there’ll be no complaints. The scone is warm and light, the macaron deliciously dissolving and as for the peanut butter ice-cream, revealed from under its chocolate dome when hot butterscotch sauce is applied…oh lordy.
